Anti-wrinkle and dermal Fillers are completely different and are easily confused. 

Anti-wrinkle is used to inhibit muscle receptors, which stops wrinkles from forming when making facial features. While dermal fillers are used to enhance or smooth facial features. Fillers are used to “fill” in areas where fat pads have separated in the face due to ageing, enhance shape and structure, beautify or to simply give a “lift” in desired areas.

After your dermal filler treatment we recommend avoiding international air travel for 2 weeks post-treatment and at least 1 week for domestic air travel. The prolonged cabin air pressure can cause unpredictable swelling and bruising. There is no restrictions with anti-wrinkle treatments, however at COSMÉTIKA we strongly encourage a review appointment which is complimentary 2 weeks post-treatment to discuss your treatment results.

The most common side effects occur within 24 hours or immediately post-treatment. These include swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness. Immediate side effects usually disappear within days. However, depending on the type of Dermal Filler used it can take a few weeks to fully integrate and settle. You will be able to notice the effects of your anti-wrinkle treatment in 7-10 days with the full effect at day 14. Results may last from three to four months, however can last as long as six months (patient dependant). Effects of your AW treatment may last longer if treatments are continued regularly. Dermal fillers are not permanent and can also be dissolved. 

While there are certain studies that show filler residue 2 years post treatment, dermal fillers are a gel like substance made of hyaluronic acid. Over time is is re-absorbed or metabolised back into the body.
